Happy Birthday Randy Jackson of the Jacksons
October 29: Today is the birthday of Randy Jackson of The Jacksons. Born in 1961, Randy turns 49 today.
Randy first appeared live with his brothers at the end of 1971. The event was a Christmas show the Jackson 5 held for blind children. Although he was on every Jackson 5 tour from 1972 forward, Randy didn’t officially join the family band until 1975, when they changed their name to The Jacksons and signed with Epic Records. Randy joined the band when Jermaine Jackson stayed over at Mo-Town during the change over.
Epic assigned the Jacksons to Gamble & Huff’s Philadelphia International wing, and they released their first new music in late 1976, Randy was 17, Michael was 18, Marlon was 19, Tito was 23, and Jackie was 25.
